Course Description

Monday December 6
Standards:
5.RL.KID.1: Quote accurately from a text when explaining what the text says explicitly and when drawing inferences from the text.
5.RL.KID.2: Determine a theme or central idea of a story from details in the text; summarize the text.

5.W.PDW.5: With guidance and support from peers and adults, develop and strengthen writing as needed by planning, revising, and editing.

Objectives:
-Students will plan for writing the literary analysis

-Students engage in a peer conference to receive feedback on their plan

Reading: Shutting Out the Sky
Writing: Essay answering the following prompt: What is the meaning of the title Shutting Out the Sky? 

 

Tuesday December 7

-Students will review the structure for an essay and writing skills from the unit

-Students will draft the essay

Writing: Essay answering the following prompt: What is the meaning of the title Shutting Out the Sky? 

 

Wednesday December 8
