As with many things this school year, our annual Veteran’s Day celebration will look different than in the past. We still think its important to recognize the special day and those who served to ensure our freedom. Our students and staff are working hard to plan something very special for our special veterans.
We have two specific activities planned. First, we will create a virtual Veterans Day program that will be loaded to our YouTube channel. It will be available for viewing on November 11th at 11:00 a.m. We will post the link on Facebook, our website, and Remind.
Second, we will be working in conjunction with surrounding schools to host Veteran’s Day campus parades. Weather permitting, our flag crew and Officer Mike will lead veterans, parents, and other visitors as they parade around our campus (safely distanced in their own vehicles) while our students cheer them on. Our parade is slated for November 11th at 8:45 a.m. Everyone is welcome to drive-through each campus but it is not necessary to visit all of them.
We are asking students and to bring in photos of special veterans in their lives. These will be used for our presentation and returned. We will not keep the photos. Larger photos will work better if you have them. You may also email a copy of the photo to your child's teacher. Younger students can’t always remember details, so please send a note with the veteran’s name, service, and relationship to the student. Photos need to be submitted by November 6th if possible.
