Lee University, B.A. Elementary Education (2020)
Hello! My name is Mariah Curtis, and I am extremely excited to be a 5th grade math and science teacher here at Loudon Elementary School!
                                                                             welcome classroom
I  have lived in Loudon my entire life and love this small town we live in! I went to Philadelphia Elementary School kindergarten through 8th grade and played basketball, led bible studies at lunch, and did all the fun things kids do! One of my favorite memories of elementary school would have to be field day. I love being outdoors, having picnics, and am extremely competitive, so field day was perfect for me! From my first day of kindergarten, I knew I wanted to be a teacher, so this is definitely a dream come true to have my own classroom! I then attended Loudon High School for the next four years and played sports (basketball and track), joined various clubs (FCA, Key Club, National Honors Society, etc.), and spent time with my friends. After graduating high school, I attended Lee University for 3 and a half years and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I am beyond excited to start my first year of teaching here!
On a personal note, I am married to my amazing husband Ben!❤ We love doing anything outdoors, traveling, playing sports, working in various ministries at our church together, and just being with our family and friends! Not only am I a first year teacher, I am also a first year coach. This year I will be an assistant coach of the Girls Basketball Team at Fort Loudoun Middle School! My husband is also an assistant basketball coach but for the Boys Basketball Team at Loudon High School.
Parents and students alike, I am always here for questions, concerns, or anything you might need! As it pertains to math and science, I will utilize lessons and materials that meet the needs of each student and their unique learning style (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, verbal, etc.). I will also use various resources to better help students learn and enjoy learning about math and science. Some of these resources include many forms of technology, manipulatives, etc.
