Tusculum University, Masters of Arts in Teaching Elementary Education
I am so thankful to be able to teach in the community of Loudon! LES is a thriving resource for the youth and families in our area. I am honored to be able to teach alongside the strong educators at LES. I have worked as a paraprofessional in Loudon County. I taught kindergarten in Knox County Schools. Now, I am happy to call Loudon Elementary my home!
Elementary school teachers have a talent for nurturing the whole brain child while delivering educationally rich lessons. I fondly remember many intermediate grade level projects that I was able to participate in. My teachers brought the learning material to life! One school experience that stands out in my memory was Ms. Alexander's 4th Grade Frontier Day! While learning about the expeditions of Lewis and Clark, the Gold Rush, and the Western Expansion of the U.S., I was able to act out what it would be like growing up on the road out west! Learning becomes fascinating for students when they are able to interact, imagine, and create scenarios similar to the informational texts they are reading. I hope to bring that same element of engagement to my lessons!
On a personal note, I am a single mother to three amazing children who also attend LES. We are so happy to call Loudon our home! We enjoy exploring our beautiful East Tennessee. We visit the wild animals at our Zoo often. When I have free time, I love to RELAX, work out, cook a great meal, and find a binge-worthy TV show!
