I love being a part of the amazing teachers and staff at Loudon Elementary School. This is my 18th year in education, and my 13th year as an ELL teacher here at LES. I currently teach mainly Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade ELL students, but I have also taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade ELL students. Before moving to TN, I lived in a number of other states including: AZ, FL, NY, TX, and CA. Prior to teaching ELL, I was a general education teacher and have taught 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grades.
I had many wonderful teachers when I was in elementary school, but my most memorable was my 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Furhman. We learned about different types of poetry, and then as a class, got to vote on our favorite. We chose the humorous rhyming poems of Shel Silverstein, and got to act out a number of his poems for our families. I still love Shel Silverstein's books and poems and share them with my students. Also while in Mrs. Furhman's class, our class planted a tree in front of the school. At the time, it was only about 1-2 feet tall. That tree still stands in front of my elementary school and is now much taller than the 2-story school!
On a personal note, I have two daughters, Miranda and Emily. Miranda is 20 and attends the University of Arizona, and Emily is 16, and a Junior at Loudon High School. I married my wonderful husband, Jason, in 2013, and through that marriage gained two more children. Jonah, is a 6th grader at Fort Loudon Middle School, and Farrah, is 26 and works in the medical field. I love all animals, and we currently have 3 dogs. Mariah, is a 12 year old Golden Retriever. Sully, is a 1 year old Golden Retriever, and Tootsie, is an 8 year old Chihuahua. I enjoy listening to music, playing piano, travelling, nature, reading, and teaching your babies!
