I love being a part of the amazing teachers and staff at Loudon Elementary School. This is my 19th year in education, my 14th year here at LES, but my very 1st year as the RTI Teacher. I previously taught mainly Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade ELL students at LES, but am super excited to teach RTI to grades K-5 this year! Before moving to TN, I lived in a number of other states including: AZ, FL, NY, TX, and CA. Prior to teaching ELL, I was a general education teacher and had taught 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grades.
I had many wonderful teachers when I was in elementary school, but my most memorable was my 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Furhman. We learned about different types of poetry, and then as a class, got to vote on our favorite. We chose the humorous rhyming poems of Shel Silverstein, and got to act out a number of his poems for our families. I still love Shel Silverstein's books and poems and share them with my students. Also while in Mrs. Furhman's class, our class planted a tree in front of the school. At the time, it was only about 1-2 feet tall. That tree still stands in front of my elementary school and is now much taller than the 2-story school!
On a personal note, I have two daughters, Miranda and Emily. Miranda is 21 and has one more year before graduating from the University of Arizona. Emily is 17, and is completing her senior year at Loudon High School. I love all animals, and currently have 3 dogs. Mariah, is a 13 year old Golden Retriever. Sully, is a 2 year old Golden Retriever, and Tootsie, is an 9 year old Chihuahua. I enjoy listening to music, playing piano, travelling, nature, and reading. I feel so very lucky to be able to come to Loudon Elementary each morning, see the sweet faces of our students, and get paid to do what I love, teach your babies!
