Tennessee Wesleyan College, B.S. in Elementary Education (2006)
I am very excited to be starting my 13th year at Loudon Elementary School. I will be teaching 5th grade math and science this year. I have a love of math and science, and look forward to instilling that same love in all my students.
Thinking back to my elementary school years as a student, my most memorable moment is a conversation with my 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Clinton. Mrs. Clinton was my third grade math teacher. I hated math. I remember we were learning our multiplication facts at the time. I was terrified every time we took a timed multiplication table test. I always worried that I'd never make the time, and that worry usually led to me not finishing. Each time before we began, I would raise my hand and ask to go to the restroom. There, I would look in the mirror and worry that I'd not make it again. I remember one day as I walked out of the restroom, Mrs. Clinton was waiting on me. I'll never forget the way that she calmly and sweetly told me she believed in me. That small conversation gave me confidence that I didn't have before. I passed my first timed multiplication table test 3 minutes later! My hope is that I can instill that same confidence and feeling of support in every student that passes through my door at LES.
On a personal note, I have been married to my wonderful wife, Tonya, for 10 years. We live in Greenback with our two rescue cats, King Julian XIII and Maurice. In my time away from school, I enjoy reading, traveling to historical locations, and building things in my work shed.
