The 2018-2019 school year will be my sixth year teaching at Loudon Elementary School, my 8th year teaching and my 12th year in education.  I am a lifetime resident of Loudon County; I attended Loudon Elementary, Fort Loudoun Middle and Loudon High School.  I am very passionate about bettering our community through education and service.

When thinking back on my elementary school days, there are 2 teachers that stick out in my mind.  My Kindergarten teacher, Ms. Cathy Green and my third grade teacher, Mrs. Billy Morton really set me up for academic success.  Kindergarten was my first real school experience as voluntary pre-k did not exist in the 70's.  Ms. Green made learning fun, I remember that every week a secret visitor (maybe from outer space) named Astro would leave a package in our classroom over the weekend so that when we arrived at school on Monday morning we would eagerly watch as Ms. Green unveiled the mysterious gift that would always unveil our letter of the week and include pictures and objects to help us remember the letter name and its sound.  Mrs. Morton made Math come to life for me.  Shed used life scenarios and fun hands on activities to teach not only math skills but also the importance of those skills.  Elementary school was exciting to me and taught me that life's mysteries could be unveiled and understood through the acquisition of knowledge and learning.  I became eager to know more about everything. I attribute my academic success and my desire to ignite a passion for learning in others to teachers like Ms. Green and Mrs. Morton.

I have been married to my best friend Tony for 20 years.  Our son, Caleb, is a Sophomore at Cleveland State Community College and is a member of the Cougar Men's Basketball Team (I am a pretty proud mom).  Our oldest daughter, Anna, is a Senior at Loudon High School who runs Cross Country and Track and is quite in involved in clubs and volunteer work. Our youngest daughter, Mattie, is a Junior, she runs track, and participates in clubs and volunteers alongside her sister.  We also have 3 dogs:  Sugar, Snicker and Tia and a "grandpuppy", Charger.  In my free time, I like to spend time with my family; we enjoy hiking, kayaking and spending time outdoors.  I enjoy running, I am training to run a half marathon this fall.
