Red Ribbon Week is October 27-31.

Our first graders wrapped up their “Different Lands, Similar Stories” unit in the most creative way! After reading stories about tiny characters like Tom Thumb, Issun-Bōshi, and Thumbelina, students imagined what life would be like if they were only one inch tall! They made adorable 1-inch versions of themselves and wrote about all the adventures they’d have at that size. 📝💫 To top it off, they put their engineering skills to work by building castles out of gumdrops, marshmallows, and toothpicks — just the right size for their tiny selves! 🏰🍬 We’re so proud of their creativity, imagination, and teamwork! 💛

Today is report card day! Also, don't forget to send in your October parent engagement menu before the end of the month.

Second grade is back and busy! Since returning from fall break, our second graders have hit the ground running! We've been diving into spelling patterns for long a, reading about a determined girl named Gail who won the spelling bee, exploring strategies for two-digit addition, and even learning about the War of 1812 🇺🇸. Little Learners is designed for children ages 3 to 5 who are not currently enrolled in a daily school program. About once a week, LES teachers will offer a one-hour session to help caregivers support their child’s smooth transition into a Pre-K or Kindergarten setting. Together, we’ll build routines, practice school-readiness skills, and make learning fun for both children and caregivers!

* A parent or caregiver is required to attend and actively participate in each session.
* We respectfully ask that younger siblings and babies not attend so that caregivers can focus on their Little Learner.
* All sessions begin at 8:00 AM and last about an hour.
* Families are encouraged to attend all sessions, though we understand schedules will vary.
* There is no cost for this program.

🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️👟The LES Cross Country team had their last meet of the season today at Victor Ashe Park. One student had a personal record run time. 🏆 We are so proud of all the runners this season and their hard work and dedication. 👟🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Thank you Adopt-a-class for donating bears for our first graders. We’ve had a bear-y good day! We’ve counted with bears, decorated bears, read with bears, and even went on a bear hunt. Our 1st graders are so excited to take their bears home and read with them each night before bed.

🕸️🕷️💪🥔 Second grade wrapped up our Greek Myths unit with some epic culminating activities—spinning Arachne’s spider webs, flexing our muscles like Hercules, and crafting our very own potato gods and goddesses! After soaking up the sunshine at recess and enjoying some tasty concessions, we’re all smiles and more than ready for a well-earned fall break. 🥔🕸️🕷️💪 #secondgraderocks #digintolearning

‼️REMINDERS‼️ Today is the last day to turn in September engagement menus. Fifth grade is hosting a concession stand for all students today. Students can purchase popcorn and freezer pops. No school next week! Enjoy your fall break.

Our 1st graders had a wildly fun day at the zoo today! From lions to lemurs, giraffes to goats, we explored, learned, and made memories together. The kids loved seeing their favorite animals up close and sharing all the facts they’ve been learning in class. A big thank you to everyone who helped make this trip possible—it was the perfect mix of fun and learning!

Our 1st graders have been busy! We just wrapped up our Human Body unit—the kids loved learning all about bones, muscles, and what makes their bodies work. 🦴💪 This week, we also had a blast in math stations while practicing how to add up to 20. The kids worked hard, used teamwork, and showed off their growing math brains. We’re so proud of how much they’re learning and how excited they are to keep going! 💛📚
