On Friday, we had some Friendship awards presented by our 2nd and 3rd grade teachers. Here are the winners. A few of them came with their friends to receive their certificates and bracelets. We even had a brother and sister win this week! They are keeping friendship in their family! Congratulations to them all!

Chapter 7 will be read by Mrs. Songster. Mr. Popper's life and home are changing. In this chapter you will hear about a "rookery". Listen carefully so you can know what that word means. You will have three days to read this and all the other chapters if you have missed them. We will have our next trivia question on Tuesday, since we won't see you on Monday due to Martin Luther King Day. Make sure you like and subscribe! We have just gone over 700 subscribers! We are seeing about 250 views each day for the English, and our Spanish views have been averaging around 50. We love that you are all joining us together through YouTube each day.

✨ Second Grade Time-Telling Fun! ⏰ Today our second graders worked hard reviewing everything we’ve learned about telling time as we get ready for Wednesday’s test. Some classes practiced with manipulative clocks, others played time‑telling games, and some even tried a practice test! The best part? So many students are excited that they can now read the clock on their own. They’ve been proudly announcing when it’s time for lunch or specials — and helping us stay on schedule! 💛 So proud of their progress! #digintolearning #secondgraderocks

Our ONE BOOK BLITZ has begun! We are going to be reading the novel, Mr. Popper's Penguins ALL together. Yes, that is correct. We need parents to join in by listening on YouTube with their children, reading the book out loud at home, or encouraging your child to read this book on their own.
Throughout the reading of the novel, each day the students will be asked a trivia question on the morning announcements. They will need to have either listened or read that chapter to be able to answer the question.
We are especially excited about this project because it gives us the perfect opportunity to introduce students to Accelerated Reader. This online quiz platform allows students to earn points for reading books. Some of our older students may remember using it in the past, but it will be brand new for many of our learners.

Today was a day of awards! We celebrated students with Friendship Awards and IXL Reading Awards. They are continuing to strive for success in academics and relationships. Congratulations!

On Friday, December 12, we hosted a celebration for our ELL (English Language Learners). These 26 students, a few who are at Fort Loudoun Middle School now, accomplished a great achievement. They passed the ELPA21 English language acquisition test. This test gauges how much English a student knows through the four domains of speaking, listening, reading and writing. It is a difficult test that requires great concentration, comprehension, and stamina. These students scored proficient!! They will no longer need extra small group instruction! We will monitor their progress for the next two years, to make sure they continue to find success. We are proud of them and hope they keep their bilingual status throughout their lives.
